Footloose came out in 1984. That same year, McDonald’s came out with this commercial:

The guy singing even sort of sounds like Kenny Loggins. Throw in a few bendy acoustic guitar riffs and you’d have a lawsuit.

Here’s another McDonald’s commercial, also from 1984:

This one even has a Kevin Bacon look-a-like dancing in a field next to a tractor.

As goofy as it was, the relatively recent commercial with the couple hand-dancing on the table because they were so happy to get a McDonalds iced coffee thing had me smiling because it reminded me that fast food used to make people spontaneously break into foot tapping frenzies. Every day the 80s feels more and more like the 40s or 50s, just with more pizazz…
